Have a Happy Journey with Indian Railways Seat Availability

The Indian Railways seat availability is a big problem when you book train tickets. Before you make a reservation, you have to check if seats are available and you will get a confirmed berth to travel, or else it could be a major headache.

In case all the seats are filled up, you can still book your tickets under the Waiting list. The first 10 or so numbers in the waiting list will be put under RAC, or Reservation against Cancellation. The passengers in RAC can travel in the reserved coach of the train and they will be offered a seat to sit, which is usually a side seat, wherein two passengers have to share. If enough cancellations are made, they will get a confirmed berth too. People in the waiting list cannot travel in the train unless they get a confirmed ticket.

Those without a ticket reservation have the option to travel in the unreserved compartments. But here availability of seats is not guaranteed. If you reach the station early and board the train, you will be lucky enough to get a seat. If late, the seats may be already occupied and you will have to stand through your journey. For short distances, it is possible but for long journeys it can be very tiring.

The best way to get a ticket reserved is to book as early as possible without any delay. As such, you will not have to bother about the Indian Railways seat availability and will get a confirmed berth to travel.
